I agree with the other commenter that the books were more satiric, and this is just too soap opera. Maybe I'm judging too quickly based on the previews and the fact that The OC-guy is behind it. But there's a difference between gossipy and dramatic (even if it is a really slight difference), and the previews seemed more like The OC moves to the East Coast. But ANTM made my week.
